Ayerim Villanueva (Dominican Republic, 1987) is a poet and studied Cinema the Veritas University of Costa Rica. Her final work of thesis is the shortfilm, Elena, filmed in Costa Rica and received the honorable mention of the film career. Elena was awarded the grand jury prize at the NAHIA Film Festival (Spain 2017), the public prize at the Mittelamerikanisches Film Festival (Austria, 2017) and the special mention of the jury at Mostra Escolas de Cinema CIBA-CILECT at 13rd Festival de Cinema Latino-Americano de São Paulo 2018. In 2016 she worked as Mezcal Jury for the Grand Prize at the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) (México, 2016) and also as Student Jury at Icaro Festival Internacional de Cine (Guatemala, 2017). Her shortfilms Nostalgia (2013), Rosario (2015), These days (2016) and Trace (2016) have been exhibited in Mexico, Australia, Germany, India, United State, Guatemala, China, Bangladesh, Italy, Malta, Bolivia, Argentina and Serbia.
